Last weekend, I made the first repair to my house, all by myself (Donna's Mom discovered the problem and held the bucket, but I got the job done). We had a very minor leak in the house, which I was able to fix, thanks to a bit of research, a do-it-yourself book, some borrowed tools from the neighbour and a $6.00 plumbing rig from Rona. Needless to say, I am happy the basement is dry, and the repair was pretty easy to complete. There was a valve that was leaking. The lead to a pipe that went to the opposite corner of the basement and died... not a drain or anything, just ended. It looked like it used to be hooked up to a hot water pressure tank or something. I just cut it out and put in a compression fitting, and done. Pretty sweet.
Rugby was definitely not the winner this weekend. While Queen's came away with 3 lop-sided victories, a combined score of 248 - 10 was ridiculous. The Varsity team beat Trent 106-0, while the 2nds and 3rds punished McGill 57-7 and 85-3 respectively (but not respectfully). A yellow card in the last 10 minutes of the 3rds game was completely unwarranted (although well deserved) and tarnished an otherwise well played series of games. Hard work by the Varsity team saw them up 50 points in the first 28 minutes of their game, while the 2nds scored 21 points on the first 12 phases to start their game. This weekend teams face Brock, who will provide a much more substantial contest, as we lost to them in last year's final.
Thanks again to Donna's Mom who has been in town doing a relentless job of cleaning, cooking, fixing, and painting for us. That's why Mom's are awesome. And no thanks goes out to all those people who did not send me birthday ideas for Donna. Fat-lot-of-good you people are. Turns out I didn't need you, as I got my shopping done.
Don't forget to vote this week. People who can vote and don't, obviously don't understand what it's like to have that privilege. Remember that many people don't, and have fought for the right to exercise some choice in deciding who should run their country and control their lives. Please go vote.
