I have been enjoying Vancouver for the past week, visiting friends and revisiting old haunts. It has been nice, but I have had to readjust to living in a big city again. Rush hour traffic, people, dumb people, really dumb people, you know... city life. Here is an update of all the things I have accomplished so far:
Tuesday - Arrived in Vancouver after a 7 hours travel. Unfortunately, I had an upset tummy and the resulting, well... you know. Even more unfortunate was the the turbulence on my flight that meant I couldn't go to the bathroom. Took my Mom out for birthday dinner, only to be sick again at night.
Wednesday - Still felt sick so took it pretty easy. Kyle and Jackie were around so I hung out with them, and did some chores for my Mom.
Thursday - Went with Marijan to help he and Amy with wedding stuff. Then came home to change, only to have to go to the rehearsal dinner that night. Tasty food though. Was sick again when I got home.
Friday - Prepped my speech and stuff for the wedding on Saturday. Hung out with some of the wedding people, mainly people I had gone to high school with and who I have been friends with for years. Went to visit the groom's parents, who I have also known for years to get some instructions on speaking Croatian.
Saturday - Wedding day. Marijan has been one of my best friends since grade 8, and I have known the bride since grade 1. The wedding was awesome. Amy looked fantastic, and everything went off without a hitch. I am sure there were little things, but I didn't notice them and everyone really had a good time. You should ask someone about the speech I gave with the groom's father. Not to toot my own horn, but several people offered to pay me to MC their weddings. Pretty proud of myself actually. Anyway, every got drunk and had a good time well into the night.
Sunday - Went back to Marijan's parent's house for afternoon meal, that consisted of enough food for about 400 (20ish people showed up). It was good though. Then went over to a friend's house for dinner. At which I ate nothing, because I had just eaten.
Monday - Took my mom to see the new Harry Potter movie, which was not a total let down, but maybe because everyone had hyped it up to so much, I was a little disappointed. Got steak for dinner too, since my Mom likes steak, but hasn't barbecued since my Dad died. Went over to Joe and Maggie's place to see their new baby, Sebastian, who I had seen several times this week, but who is such a sweet baby I wanted to see him again. Played some video games while I was there. Did you know you can play video games while a baby sleeps on your chest? Well you can.
Tuesday - Did some errands during the day, then my Mom cooked a turkey for dinner and had a few relative over. A nice evening with too much food, but how do you say no to turkey?
Wednesday - Didn't accomplish much today, but did manage to have lunch with some friends, and go to rugby practise. Not a bad day. Cut the grass for my Mom too.
Anyway it has been a busy week, with lots of eating. Good thing I have been managing to get to the gym in the mornings.
I am looking forward to the rest of the trip. More weddings, food, and best of all, Donna comes into town on Friday.
Stay Frosty.
