Back in Rugby

Yesterday, I made my playing debut for the Kingston Panthers. They are a really goo bunch of guys, and I had a ton of fun yesterday, although I am extremely sore after playing about half the game, my first in 2.5 months. Usually I get a month of training before I have to go out and play, so this was a little shock to my system. I really have to get used to the field. Seems like they may be a bit tougher out here, since they like to lay on fields that are comparable to asphalt. All the fields were so hard... I am used to the nice soft mushy field of Burnaby Lake. I need to go and get a pair of insoles today to protect my baby-like feet. We ended up losing by 2 points. I hate to blame the referee, but I have to say that the refereeing is definetly not better, and could actually be worse than the refereeing in BC. I am almost positive the referee yesterday didn't actualy no all the laws. The indication of this was that he didn't only miss calls, which all referees do so thats no big deal, but he actually made the wrong calls, like he was still using the law book from 1983. Oh well, what can you do? I questioned him a few times, off the field, and he still got all pissed off... and defensive. I also found out they don't actually have evaluators out here all the time. They use evaluation cards. I bet those are read. Useless twit.

After dinner, I was treated to an excellent dinner prepared by the two girls, Donna and one of her friends Tania. Tania is a really fantastic cook, and the steak she made was delcious, along with the potato salad, which I am definetly going to make again. It was nice having the afternoon off from cooking. I just lazed around and rested my battered body.

Off to the bech today, then Donna has to start working night shifts, so I am on my own for the afternon as she sleeps the day away.
