Its been awhile since my last update. But yesterday was my last game for my rugby club, at least for awhile. This is sort of the first thing to impact me concerning my moving to Kingston. I am checking into a few things, getting ready for the move, but I haven't really thought about moving. We had a playoff game in Cowichan on the weekend and I wish we had had a better outcome, as we lost 19-10. Not the best thing I that could have happened, but it was a glorious day spent in the sunshine with a bunch of great guys, so I can't complain about too much. I will definitely miss the rugby club a lot, as it has been a major part of my life for the past 11 years. It has been really great to go from the BLRC Junior program, through the different Men's leagues, to being part of the executive. I have learned a lot about rugby, and what a great game it is. Not just on the field, but off as well. The social network the game provides is unparalleled.
Last weekend was our club's awards banquet, and I was honoured with the Larry Young Memorial Award. I appreciate this a lot because not only does it exemplify what most rugby player want to be, but it is awarded by a club membership vote. Getting this from my peers means a lot. It was a fantastic party, and although I can't remember all of it, I know I had a fantastic time along with all the other members that were there. At least that's what people tell me. As my last awards banquet for a time, I was glad to have been able to make the most of it.
As I go off to Kingston, I will be looking for a new club. A couple members of the BLRC have promised to hook me up with a couple of good guys from the area who will ensure that I have a good time at my new club. I look forward to this next leg of my rugby career, as I look forward to getting back to the Blue and White of Burnaby Lake.
