Hello readers out there. Its been a while since I have posted, mainly because things have been super hectic and I haven't really had the time, nor really the inclination to post something. But, as my life returns to something resembling normalcy, I thought I could squeeze in a little update.
First of all, I would just like to start by saying thank you to everyone who sent their thoughts and well wishes to my family and myself over the last month. It was all very thoughtful and appreciative. Its nice to know there are some really good people out there.
Which brings me to my next point, (Kids, don't smoke crack... that's the funny line from the "Waterboy" with Adam Sandler) why do people seem to lose all sense of niceness when the holiday season rolls around? I spent the weekend up in Ottawa with Donna (she is doing a rotation at CHEO is Peds. Emergency) and everywhere we went, people seemed unfriendly and impatient. Now, I am sure some of it has to do with the fact that now that we live in a smaller town, people are just a little nicer. And, since I work in a really small town where everyone is super accomidating, I have just become used to the idea that people are supposed to be nice to each other whenever possible.
Our nation's capital is a pretty nice place though, and funny enough, the Parliament Buildings and my house have something in common. They are both poorly decorated for Christmas. I wanted to see a big light display at Parliament. I wanted millions of lights and a blinding display. What I got was a half dozen snowflakes projected on to the side of the buildings. Whoopty-do. So apparently, not only is our Parliament not in session because the fat heads can't get their stuff sorted out, but they can't get their Christmas decorations sorted out either. My house looks much the same. Actually, I think Dad would have been mortified at my attempt to put up Christmas lights. I promise to do a better job next year.
It's the season to breakout the credit card as well, as I have two Secret Santas to buy for. Our school is doing a Staff Secret Santa, which starts tomorrow and goes for 12 days. That's a lot presents. So, I guess I need to get home and do some shopping for presents. Also, and probably more importantly, I have my family Secret Santa to buy for. I have started my shopping but it is not going too well. Kingston doesn't have the same access to stores as other major cities. But I have faith, and even if I am a little last minute this year, it won't be a big deal.
I have some pictures to put up, so look back for those later in the week.
Keep it real people.
