So it's now official. Donna and I are the proud owners of a new home. Not an apartment, or a condo, or a townhouse, but an actual detached home with a yard and a garage, and a lawn and trees, and everything. If you're wondering why I haven't been blogging, its becuase I have been waiting for this to get done. That, and the fact that I spend 2 hours and 45 minutes in a car commuting every day.
Needless to say, we are very excited. Donna (and to a lesser extent me) have already been checking out flyers for all the stuff we need, and Donna has even been looking at dogs. Here is a play-by-play of all the pics- our house in a nutshell.

Our house from the outside. That's a 2 ton air conditioning unit in front. That translates into 65 degree inside temperature during the summer... nice and cold.

A picture of the back yard. This is the west side of the yard, but the trees go all the way around the backyard. It should be beautiful in the summer.
The entrance way intot the house. I ilke the big mirrored closet. Floor is ceramic tiles. The seller likes tile, but not cold feet.
Wood burning fireplace. I also like the windows on two walls, giving the wall in increased open feeling and light coming in from 2 directions. Donna really likes the mirrror above the fireplace too.
Dinning area, between the livingroom and kitchen. The floor even has custome tile inlays
to highlight the table. The cabinets behind the table are also nice. He even designed a cupboard for a computer in that unit. Not sure why you would need a computer there but....
Marble tiles for the counter-top, and custom tilework around the walls. The microwave is staying as well. I have never owned a $1000.00 microwave. Hardwood floors in the background... the hallways, livingroom, and 1 bedroom all have new maple hardwood floors that match the cabinets.
New window in front of the kitchen sink. The sink is not stainless steel. I am not sure what it is, but it feels neat. Ceramic? Composite? Space-age polymer? Not sure.
The lighting in the kitchen. They swivel and pivot.. not sure that's important but, it looks cool.
I love the floor.
I love the fact there is very little carpeting. The most terrible feeling in the world is fuzzy carpet on dry, freshly washed feet.
This is their daughter's room. Probably the only room we have to paint.
I love this light fixture in the daughter's room. So cool.
Master bedroom. Will be much nicer when the elliptical machine goes. Again, the windows on 2 walls are awesome.
Did I mention custom bathroom as well? Tile everywhere.
Crazy sink eh? Like something out of an Earl's. Not the most practicle, but it looks cool.
Not a lot of storage in the bathroom. Might be an issue for us. We have a lot of crap.
More trendy lighting. Goes with the custom, bent-wood mirror they had installed.
Air-jet bubble tub. Produced enough bubbles to pretty much strip the skin when turned on full.
Not the newest furnace around, but, knock on wood, it ran fine. No funny noises on start-up, got the house supper warm really fast, so it looks OK.
The rental suite in the basement. All appliances included. Its actually really nice, so were hoping for a nice tenant.
Lovely pink bathroom in the suite. Why so many people seem to like pink?
If it wasn't going to earn us some rental money, I would live downstairs.
So? Not a bad house eh? Post comments, tell us what you think.
I will have more info soon. Spring Break started today, so I will have some free time.
Mike
